This morning, Iraqi Securities Commission and the Iraq Stock Exchange received Mr. Jalil Tarif, Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Securities Authorities, on an official visit. During the visit, he affirmed the Union’s keenness to enhance joint cooperation with both entities in ways that serve the development of the securities sector in Iraq and the Arab region.
During the meeting, ways to develop cooperation in the fields of regulation, supervision, and capacity building were discussed, along with strengthening the legislative and regulatory environment that supports the financial market. Joint training programs were also discussed, through which the Union aims to improve the efficiency and skills of personnel in supervision, oversight, and market organization.
His Excellency Mr. Faisal Al-Haimas, Chairman of Iraqi Securities Commission, emphasized that this visit represents an important opportunity to strengthen the frameworks of joint cooperation with the Union of Arab Securities Authorities, highlighting the Commission’s commitment to expanding partnership horizons in a manner that enhances regulatory performance and strengthens the investment environment in Iraq according to the best international standards.
For his part, Secretary-General Mr. Jalil Tarif stated that the Union is ready to support the Commission and the Exchange in all areas of cooperation, including training, exchange of expertise, and learning about the best regional and international practices, in ways that enhance market performance and ensure investor protection.
Iraqi Securities Commission and the Iraq Stock Exchange expressed their appreciation for the visit of Secretary-General Mr. Jalil Tarif, confirming that this cooperation constitutes a fundamental pillar in the development of the Iraqi financial market and in enhancing its role regionally and across the Arab world, thereby achieving the Commission’s objectives of advancing governance, transparency, and regulatory efficiency.
